Polk County Sheriff’s Office arrested 47 people, including a 17 year-old female, in an online sex sting this weekend. Those arrested in the operation also include a medical doctor, a pharmacist, a pharmaceutical sales rep, and a retired IRS agent.
“Our detectives will continue to conduct investigations which target e-commerce ads for prostitution,” said Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd in a press release. “Prostitution is illegal and those who commit or who derive proceeds from this crime in Polk County can expect to go to jail.”
Solicitation of Prostitution is a misdemeanor criminal offense in Florida carrying harsh penalties, including fines and jail time. More importantly for some, however, is the fact that a conviction for this crime can be extremely damaging to your reputation. Those arrested in this sting have already faced the humiliation of having their names published in news articles across the State. Now, they face admonishment at work and family issues.
