Federal Judge Rules Tracking Cell Phone Records is Legal

A Federal Court in New York ruled on Friday that the NSA program that systematically tracks phone records of millions of Americans is legal. This creates a conflict amongst other Courts, which may lead to this issue being decided by the US Supreme Court.

In his ruling, Judge William Pauley dismissed a challenge brought on by the ALCU, holding that Fourth Amendment protections do not apply to third party records, such as those held by phone companies.

The ALCU plans to appeal.
