Hogan & Gawker Trial Postponed After Appeals Court Ruling

The civil trial between former pro wrestler Hulk Hogan and gossip/news blog giant Gawker media has been postponed.

Filed today in the 2nd District Court of Appeals, this trial was postponed because of rules dictating how many days must pass after motions are filed and the trial date itself. In this case, the motions filed by Hulk Hogan’s attorneys were far too close to the date of the trial thus causing the trial to be postponed.

Hogan, a longtime wrestler and famed reality star, is claiming that he suffered emotional distress and a violation of his publicity rights after a sex tape was partially leaked by Gawker a few years ago. Since then, this case has been followed by the entire country as the two sides of the legal playing field jump back and forth awaiting any of the multiple ongoing suits.

The trial is overseen by Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Court Judge Pamela Campbell and was originally set to begin Monday, but is now postponed after the appeals court ruling.
