Hillsborough County DUI Checkpoint – Thursday, June 20 2013

This coming Thursday, June 20, 2013, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a DUI Checkpoint at the intersection of Highway 60 and Parsons Ave. in Brandon starting at approximately 10 PM. Typically, every driver passing through this intersection is stopped and a HCSO Deputy speaks to the driver and checks for signs of impairment, including bloodshot/watery eyes, odor of an alcohol beverage on the driver’s breath, or slurred speech. If a driver shows signs of impairment, he or she will be asked to submit to field sobriety exercises, which are tests designed to determine whether or not a driver’s normal faculties are impaired. If a driver shows multiple cues of impairment on the exercises, or refuses to submit to the exercises, he or she will most likely be arrested and asked to submit to a breath sample (on this particular night, HCSO will be testing a driver’s BAC on the scene.)

If you or anyone you know is going to be driving through Brandon this Thursday, please use a designated driver and call Taracks & Associates if you have any questions about your legal rights or responsibilities as a driver.
