DUI Checkpoint Thursday, Jan 26, 2012 @ SR60 & Parsons Ave

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office will be conducting a DUI Checkpoint this Thursday, January 26 at SR60 & Parsons Ave. Drivers in the area should expect delays and the possibility of being stopped and required to submit to Field Sobriety Exercises and/or a breath test.

These checkpoints allow officers to stop and speak with individual drivers to look for tell-tale signs of impairment, such as bloodshot, watery eyes, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the driver's breath. Once officers observe these - or any other signs - they can ask the driver to exit the vehicle and submit to roadside sobriety tests. These tests are designed to test whether or not the normal faculties of the driver are impaired; however, many drivers believe the tests are unusual and impossible to pass.

You should always use a designated driver, especially when these roadside checkpoints are conducted. HCSO typically hosts two - four of these per month, so be sure to check back with our blog often. Taracks Gomez & Rickman - The Advocate For You.
