Florida Saggy Pants Law

Florida lawmakers have passed a bill requiring school dress codes to ban clothing that exposes underwear or body parts in an indecent manner. A student caught violating this policy would receive a verbal warning for a first offense; a second offense would result in a possible five day suspension from extra curricular activities. For third and subsequent offenses, the student would receive a three-day in school suspension. Lawmakers claim this bill is designed to keep students from becoming distractions and to have self-respect. The Representative who sponsored the bill initially wanted the offense to carry ten days in jail.
