At sentencing, Taracks Gomez & Rickman argued for the Defendant that a "downward departure" from the sentencing guidelines was appropriate; Defendant was ultimately sentenced to four years (the lowest possible sentence available in a DUI manslaughter case), which works out to 6.38 years less than the State was seeking.
